EA FC 26 looks like a slow game on paper. Nobody is building walls or dodging spell effects, so streamers assume they can get away with a low bitrate. Then they watch their VOD and the pitch is a shimmering green smear every time the ball moves. Sports games are secretly one of the hardest genres to encode, and since its September 2025 launch, FC 26 has caught a lot of new streamers off guard. Here is how to set OBS up properly.

Why EA FC 26 Is Brutal for Encoders
Video encoders save bandwidth by reusing parts of the previous frame that have not changed. FC 26 gives them almost nothing to reuse:
- The broadcast camera pans constantly. Every pass, run, and switch of play slides the entire frame sideways. There is no static background, no fixed HUD region of any size, nothing for temporal compression to hold on to. A first-person shooter standing still is easy; a camera tracking a through ball is a full-frame redraw 60 times per second.
- Grass is high-frequency noise. Millions of individual blades form a fine texture that low bitrates cannot represent. Starved encoders turn the pitch into flat green blocks, and the moment the camera moves, that texture shimmers and crawls. Grass shimmer is the number one complaint about low-bitrate FC streams.
- Replays and cutscenes spike demand. Goal replays use fast cinematic cameras, depth-of-field sweeps, and crowd close-ups. A crowd is thousands of independently moving objects, which is nearly as bad as confetti for an encoder.
- The ball itself is small and fast. At starved bitrates the ball leaves ghost trails, and viewers lose track of exactly what happened in a tight finish.

At 12,000 Kbps the grass texture actually holds together during pans, and replays stop falling apart. If you mainly stream Ultimate Team on YouTube, the higher ceiling is worth the switch on its own.

Kick accepts roughly 8,000 Kbps. Run 7,500-8,000 Kbps at 1080p 60fps; the pitch texture visibly benefits from every extra 1,000 Kbps.

Full-frame motion is expensive for x264 too, so do not expect the Slow preset to hold at 1080p 60fps on a mid-range CPU:

In-Game Settings That Help Your Stream
- Frame rate: uncapped or 60fps locked, never 30. Ball movement and player animations are the whole product; 60fps is essential for smooth motion on stream. If you are unsure why this matters so much for sports titles, read 30fps vs 60fps streaming.
- Camera: Tele Broadcast or Co-op with reduced zoom. A slightly wider camera pans less aggressively per pass, which measurably reduces encoding strain.
- Grass quality: High, not Ultra. Ultra grass adds micro-detail your bitrate cannot carry anyway; High compresses more cleanly.
- Depth of field and camera shake: Off. Blur and shake add frame-wide changes with zero gameplay value.
- Time of day: day matches compress better than night matches, where floodlight bloom and dark stands add banding. You cannot always choose, but daytime kickoff in friendlies looks cleaner on stream.
- Skip replays sparingly. Replays are bitrate spikes, but viewers love them; just know quality dips slightly during cinematic cameras and recovers in normal play.
Internet Requirements
For 6,000 Kbps on Twitch you want at least 10 Mbps upload with headroom for spikes during replays and goal celebrations. For YouTube at 9,000-12,000 Kbps, plan on 15-20 Mbps upload.
